Giving Thanks

Thanksgiving has got to be my favourite holiday.  I get the turkey and my family but don’t have the snow or bullshit to put up with.  Its like what Christmas was meant to be before money got involved.  It’s the one day of the year where Facebook status’ don’t make you nauseated and everyone seems genuinely thankful.  For me, its also a lot less nostalgic than Christmas, which has made it easier for me to spend away from home with friends.  I am just so thankful for Thanksgiving.

I am also so thankful for my amazing friends and family.  I was going to name specific people here, but I actually cant because there are just so many people who make a difference in my life.  I have amazing groups of friends that are there for me through the good times, the bad times, the times where I need some creative inspiration, when I need to cry, when I need a good workout or anything else you can imagine.  My family.. well they are so unique and appreciated.  Never once in my life have I woke up and didnt know that someone loved me, and thats to their credit.  I talk to my brothers almost everyday and Im so lucky to have so many cousins whose life Im a big part of.  Thankful.  My kindhearted boyfriend who leaves the porch light on for me every night and the little mutt that greets me at the door.....Thankful.  Having a job, good health, having passion for my life.... Thankful.

This year, I am especially thankful for new beginnings.  The holiday, this year, has happened to land its peaceful little day amidst an emotional and somewhat stressful time in my life.  As most of you may know, our business is closing its doors for good this upcoming Friday and I will be taking a leap of faith in just mere days.  I am moving away from Fort McMurray and the life I have created here.   With every closed door, another opens and I am looking forward to a change.  I vowed to myself to never again wake up to a life I wasn’t proud of, and I plan to make this change now.  I have learned so much over the last years, and I am so thankful for that I can take those lessons with me and start a new chapter.

Many days I wake up and wonder what I ever did to deserve the life I have.  Thank you to all of you who have carved this heart a little more.  Thankful.

Wouldnt be a post from Lace without a few pics!
